There are more than 500 different species of crawfish in the world -- more than half living in the United States alone. Most crawfish live in areas with a moderate temperature and fresh water.  The crawfish contains a ventral nervous system.

Crawfish  in the United States are usually 2 - 4 inches when mature. Australian crawfish can get as big as 15.5 inches and weigh 8 lbs

Crawfish are mainly active at night. 

They eat snails, insect larvae, algae, some worms, and other small aquatic life. 

Predators include alligators, grackle, and a varity of turtles

Crawfish is a famouse dish among many on the Gulf Coast -- Crawfish season begins in January and ends in May

The Crawfish in the United States are usually found in Lousisana but are also found all over -- such as Kuntucky and Mississippi

Most crawfish are a brownish/red color with a few exspetions like white and blue.
